Plato, David Hume, and Chrysippus

How should we properly — meaning both philosophically and scientifically — think of the relationships between reason and emotions? There are three enduring models that I wish to explore here.

The first model is the Platonic one: reason and emotions are distinct aspects of the human mind, and reason ought to be in charge.
